Its been way to long since I updated this blog. I wonder if anyone is still out there. :)
I could give you a list of my usual excuses but I am sure you've heard them all before. So I'll just ask a couple questions and leave you with some proof that I am not totally neglecting the miniature hobby.
First I am working on fleshing out my fantasy campaign and setting. It is still in the early stages so I can't promise much. So my question: Should I post info on the campaign and setting here as I develop it or wait to release it in case I want to do something more with it? Basically I want to know do I run the risk of posting it and having someone rip off some of the ideas, names etc. Not that I think I will ever publish anything using the setting, but just in case I do should I keep the back story and such to myself and just share the AAR of games I play within that framework?
Second, I have the basic idea of what I want the portion of the world to look like that my campaign will take place in. What are some good mapping resources so I can put some of the ideas down on paper that are in my head.
That is all for now but I am sure as I develop things I will be asking more questions and looking for more input.
Now I leave you with proof that my painting table is full of projects I am working on. The majority of the figures in the picture are a recent purchase (already painted) I made on eBay that I just needed to touch up and base. (More on that later) Look for them to make an appearance in my campaign.

Still here Dan, some little teasers about the campaign maybe?
ReplyDeleteYep, still here too! I'd post the campaign stuff as it comes, it'll keep everyone interested.
ReplyDeleteMaybe post photos or rough ideas of what you are doing without using names?
ReplyDeleteAs for mapping programs - Campaign Cartographer is one of the best: http://www.profantasy.com/products/cc3.asp
It allows you to make maps of your world and even dungeons and dungeon tiles.
I´m still here :-D
ReplyDeleteCheers
Paul
Good old fashioned pencil and paper, that's how i do it ;)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to reading more on your campaign, a bit of narrative really livens the AAR up
We are still all here.
ReplyDeleteI would write it all down. I am seriously thinking of running a bit of solo Traveller (after doing no RPGing of any sort for over 15 years) and creating a blog of the experience. When I say thinking, it is a bit more serious than that, much more extremely likely. I am going to blog it partly so I can keep track of everything in one place. So I say write it all and I'll read it all.
Cannot help you on the software front at all, sorry.
We're here, lurking...
ReplyDeleteStill here. I've never really known anyone who stole someone's idea and made a bunch of money off it. We borrow and share ideas all the time. Usually the ones who have the more interesting ideas get more traffic and interest.
ReplyDeleteStill stalking the blog sites!
ReplyDeleteStill here and still somewhat unobservant. I understand the reluctance to post something that you may want to preserve claim to. One way that you could think about it is that the blog is proof of the timing and content of your original ideas, the date is there on your post. You could also put a copyright notice on the post or the blog itself. Thieves are going to try and steal stuff no matter what you do so it's really up to you. If push came to shove and you had to sue someone for royalties/ rights an electronic log of it all could stand up in court.
ReplyDeleteEither way, nice to have you back posting.
PS - I am not a lawyer so this is all strictly conjecture.
I'm here.
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting and watching, Dan. I find just a "pinch" of modeling energy sprinkled out on a blog gives me a modeling-shot-in-the-arm. Engage, experience, and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThanks alot for the encouragement guys! I look forward to sharing some of my ideas with you all and look forward to your feedback!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely here!
ReplyDeleteSetting-wise, I think you have to do whatever you feel comfortable with.
Whatever you do put up, I'll definitely read. I always enjoy your posts!
I'm here too.
