In order to advance my current
Dark Age Fantasy Campaign beyond several battles I realized I would eventually need to set up my gaming table with the town of Greybridge. I have several very crude sketches of what I want the village to look like and if I can ever get my scanner working I may post those to the blog. So to that end I need buildings in order to make Greybridge a reality. I already have a bridge which just happens to be grey and may be the center of the village. Other than that I have the
a-frame house I built a while back and
the building I won in raffle I entered. It is quite clear I still need several more buildings at a minimum to form Greybridge.
So with the recent spat of bad weather here on the east coast of the US, when I wasn't emptying the cellar of water, I found time to build another dark age building. This building was based loosely on the plans posted on another great Viking blog
The Nothelm Chronicle.
I did not take work in progress pictures but I used many of the same techniques used in making my
a-frame house. The big difference is the roof to this building is removable to so I can use the interior to hide units.
Here we have are heroes Assur and Harlin in from the the house for scale.
More DA building goodness! Great stuff - I hope it doesnt get burned down by raiders too quickly...that seems to happen to all of mine :-)
ReplyDeleteMay I suggest a bit more dirt and weathering for a more lived in look?
Looking fwd to seeing your village sketches when you get to it
That's not bad at all, very good work.
ReplyDeleteVery nice looking model. Love the thatch roof. Keep up the good work and keep posting pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome -- you have a definite talent for buildings (and I'm quite jealous -- my own attempts at scratch building generally leave a lot to be desired). This house really looks great.
ReplyDeleteNice building. I'll have to try the scrub pad thatch method one day, although to me it looks more like sod.
ReplyDeleteThanks for you kind words guys!
ReplyDeleteVery nice looking building. I am quite pleased with the amount of Dark Age stuff around at the present.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool terrain piece mate!
ReplyDeleteWell done!

Very nice thatching, J.
