1/72 WWII Figures
I stated in a previous blog post that I would try to post an update at least once a week. I have been able to stick to that promise fairly well as I have been starting and finishing different projects. However, this past week I was not able to fit in anytime for the hobby. So I fell into the trap that I am sure hinders most blogs, not having any new material on hand to post about.
However, as I was looking over my painting table and small storage area my eyes fell upon my 1/72 WWII plastic figures produce by Italeri. I realized that these were some of the very first miniatures I had ever paint and based. When I first began to have an interest in this hobby someone recommend I get some 1/72 figures from one of my favorite time periods and paint them up to see what I thought. I took their advice and purchased a set of American and German infantry and painted up some poses from each box. I enjoyed the process and end result and so this was my "gateway drug" into the hobby. Since I finished these figures before I even thought about starting a blog I figured I would post a picture of them so you can see my very first foray into the hobby. Hopefully this next week will bring some more time to progress on my current projects.

My first real foray into the hobby was a traveling dwarf made by Mithril Miniatures. I'm keeping the less than stellar paint job as a historic example of my first work. I keep trying to find another model of that same pose to paint in my current style for a side by side, but it's kinda rare.
ReplyDeleteI just painted some of Itlaeri's GIs this week. I think they're nice models.
I would like to see some pictures of those GIs.
ReplyDeleteIm still fairly new to the hobby and wouldnt consider myself much of a painter but I would hope that if I painted more of these figures up there would be an improvement.
The italeri GI´s are a good set.
ReplyDeleteNice looking set of bods :-)
Cheers

Good job. And if I may pry...does the trailer "hitch-up" to the jeep/and-or Kubelwagen? If not, have you scratchbuilt a hook-up of sorts? I am about to try this project on some Peter Pig vehicles and Quality Casting's 1-Ton Trailers. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jay! The trailer hitches up to the jeep but not the Kubelwagen.
